Why it’s important to support Small Businesses During Covid-19:
The Coronavirus Pandemic has led the world to a halt, with countries struggling to find methods to slow the spread of COVID-19 while also maintaining their economies. Self-quarantine and social distancing have made it nearly impossible for some small businesses to function, or they are struggling to keep afloat. It’s important that we do everything we can to help small struggling small businesses, in order for all of us to get through this health and economic hardship.
How you can support small businesses:
1. Shop local and make conscious purchases from small businesses. Larger companies like Amazon and Target will be okay through this pandemic, it’s the small businesses that support right now.
2. Use social media for good! Make an effort to follow, like, and share the posts of small businesses that you want to support. A little goes a long way when everyone helps!
3. Remember that although you have a lot more time on your hands to cook, to order out every once in a while to support local restaurants. We don’t want to lose our favorite local eateries.
4. Buy Gift Cards and Credits from small businesses to use once the world returns to somewhat normalcy in order to support them with some extra cash through this time.
When you support small businesses, you are keeping American’s employed, you are supporting essential workers, you are building value in your community and you are providing hope to people who are wondering if they will make it through the summer. Most small business owners are not eligible for unemployment benefits which means they don’t have a safety net if their business fails. A lot of small businesses missed out on the first round of state and federal funding and PPP loans, leaving them with no choice but to layoff all their staff. It doesn’t have to stay this way!
Let’s all work together and support our local communities!! Stay healthy. Stay safe.
